Iconic CWW Quotes
I became known for my motivational messages to my team, the Grapes. Here are some of my personal favourites.
Watermelons may cry, “Peace, peace!”—but there is no peace. For the war has already begun! The next notification that sweeps from the internet will bring to our ears the sounds of pen on paper! Our grape brethren are already in the pages, writing and fighting for our army! Why stand here we idle? What is it that gentlegrapes wish? What would they have? Is writing so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of humiliation and deprivation? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course other grapes may take; but as for me, give me dead bananas, or give me death!
Fellow grape brethren, I humbly ask of you to consider this call to arms. We simply must do whatever is in our power to prevent those bananas from winning. So take up your pens and let us write!
No grape thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy writers who are here. But this is no time for ceremony. The question before our Team is one of powerful moment to this competition. For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom...or defeat. It is only in writing that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and our competition. Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offence, I should consider myself as guilty as treason towards my team.
When, in the course of CWW events, it becomes necessary for one team to dissolve the writing bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the fruit, the separate and more worthy team, to which the Laws of Writing and Writing’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of fruitkind require that they should declare the causes which impel them to the victory.
We hold these fruits to be self-evident, that all grapes are created more superior than bananas, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Writing, Winning, and Making Banana Bread.
Fellow grapes, what is happening? The bananas are catching up; hacking away at our Vine of Grapeness. Will we lose our winning streak? NOT IF YOU HELP.
